Announcing the arrival of the "Heritage 18's"!
We are pleased to announce that our new premium 18 karat gold nibs have arrived and are now featured on all of our fountain pens.
Both the large (left) and the small (right) nib are available in Medium or Fine point. The nibs can, therefore, be ground to a fine or extra-fine point and virtually any shape, such as stub, cursive Italic, etc. The design is floral with an inkwell and quill pen motif. They are marked 18K - 750 which is standard jeweler's notation for 18 karat gold. The 18k gold is further embellished with 24k gold and platinum creating the beautiful two-tone presentation while preserving the working properties of 18k gold. These nibs, valued at $100-$150 both here and at most other high end pen companies, are featured on all of our fountain pens as they provide for a fantastic writing experience and we think you are worth it! (If you are purchasing a fountain pen for a first time user and wish to have them start with a high quality steel nib, we can replace the nib and reduce the price.)
YES! We display our beautiful, custom, hand crafted wood pens at certain pen shows!
Thanks to our friends, old and new, who visited us at the Triangle (Raleigh) Pen Show in June, the Washington DC Fountain Pen Supershow in August and the Chicago Pen Show in April. It was a pleasure seeing all of you and we WILL be at even more shows throughout the year! Our new 3-D Jigsaw Puzzle Pen, developed and designed by us over a period of two and one-half years, was introduced at the 2007 D.C. Supershow to rave reviews. Our next show will be the Washington DC Supershow August 7-10, 2008.
Who cares what you think?
We do, of course. We believe that others do as well. That's one reason for our Testimonials page. Of course, some folks are more comfortable in reporting to an independent third party than in sending us an email. We're ready to accomodate you!
We have recently contracted with Rate Point to a service that allows you -- the consumer -- to read real reviews about our business and submit real, authentic feedback. We have been verified by Rate Point and have agreed to abide by their Membership Program Guidelines to ensure that Heritage Pens is trustworthy and reliable. The Official Home of the Jigsaw Puzzle Pen
(Yes, I designed and developed it between 2005 and 2007 and continue to perfect it today, although other pen makers can and do make authorized versions with the Kallenshaan Woods kit.)
A jigsaw puzzle is a tiling puzzle that requires the assembly of numerous small, often oddly shaped, interlocking pieces. Each piece has a small part of a picture on it; when complete, a jigsaw puzzle produces a complete picture. Jigsaw puzzles were originally created by painting a picture on a flat, rectangular piece of wood, and then cutting that picture into small pieces with a jigsaw, hence the name. John Spilsbury, a London mapmaker and engraver, is credited with commercializing jigsaw puzzles around 1760[1]. Jigsaw puzzles have since come primarily to be made on cardboard.
Over the past three years I have worked on taking the traditionally two-dimensional design and applying it to the world of pens. The design has undergone several changes during this time, finally resulting in three different forms which are available through us, exclusively. The "Original Jigsaw Puzzle" is made from American ash and clearly defines the successful first step in the evolution of my concept. The "Tie-Dyed Jigsaw Puzzle" takes off on the original by introducing a rainbow of color splashes reminiscent of Peter Max colors from the 1960's. The "New Jigsaw Puzzle" goes yet a step further by incorporating 18 different woods from six continents into one pen. Due to the method of production, it is impossible to create a duplicate. Another version of this theme is due out by the fall. Be sure to watch for its introduction.
I've been asked if it really is a jigsaw puzzle. Well, here's a photo of the pen in its completed form and what it looked like before assembly.
